Jean Patou (1887-1936), designer, creator and hedonist was born in Normandy, France. The family business helped him reveal his talents as from 1907 he started working with his uncle in the fur business. In 1912 he moved to Paris and opened a small tailoring atelier Maison Parry. In 1914 he sold his entire collection to an American buyer. The First World War disrupted his career as in 1915 he served as a military captain at the Dardanelles front. After the war, in 1919, he reopened his boutique, this time under his own name.
The perfumer was given carte blanche. The choice of ingredients was refined countless times in an attempt to achieve perfection. Osmanthus was selected from the Far East with its rare and precious white flowers, known as the "golden flower". Combined with rose, it provides a soft and delicate touch that represents the true essence of '1000'. Because it only blooms for a few hours each spring, osmanthus can only be purchased once a year in Canton China, making the annual production of the original perfume a limited and artisanal creation. The heart notes of the perfume present themselves with a grandiose symphony of tuberose and jasmine and develop into a velvety and powdery accord of iris and violet. This floral bouquet leads to the warm and sensual notes of Mysore sandalwood, patchouli and oakmoss. Today, the bottle containing '1000' is inspired by the iconic JOY bottle. The pure glass is hand polished and inlaid with the famous Jean Patou monogram, while the signature gold thread seals the perfume. Insolence, mystery and sophistication .... '1000' was worth the long wait
1000Top notes are osmanthus, violet and apricot; middle notes are rose, jasmine, geranium and lily-of-the-valley; base notes are sandalwood, patchouli and oak.
