Initially launched in 1882, Fougère Royale completely revolutionized the world of perfume and established modern perfumery as we know it today. Fougère Royale was the first "fougère" (or fern-like) fragrance to be conceived, thus establishing a family of fragrances completely new which still remains today the most renowned olfactory family in men's fragrances.
Even more importantly, Houbigant was the first perfume house to discover how to isolate particular molecules from natural raw materials, particularly coumarin, which is extracted from tonka beans.
Today, in keeping with the past, Maison Houbigant has revisited this extraordinary classic with an elegant and contemporary style.
The formula has been masterfully reworked in collaboration with the nose Rodrigo Flores-Roux, head perfumer of Givaudan.
Rodrigo says: "I am absolutely thrilled, and feel extremely privileged, to have been chosen by Maison Houbigant to take part in the rebirth of Fougère Royale. As a nose, I can say that this is a once-in-a-lifetime gift."
