Jean Patou (1887-1936), designer, creator and hedonist was born in Normandy, France. The family business helped him reveal his talents as from 1907 he started working with his uncle in the fur business. In 1912 he moved to Paris and opened a small tailoring atelier Maison Parry. In 1914 he sold his entire collection to an American buyer. The First World War disrupted his career as in 1915 he served as a military captain at the Dardanelles front. After the war, in 1919, he reopened his boutique, this time under his own name.
Every generation seeks a fragrance that characterizes its era, but many perfumes emerge only to fade over time as fashion evolves... Jean Patou, a visionary designer, understood exactly what was needed to create a legendary perfume, an icon. So in 1929 he created JOY. The stock market crash of that year was the backdrop to its launch. Many of Patou's wealthy American clients found themselves in difficulty but... JEAN PATOU gave them a special gift: JOY, a work of art, a precious aid to banish "depression". No expense was spared and JOY became famous and known as "the most expensive perfume in the world". JOY is the union of two exceptional flowers: Damask rose and Grasse jasmine, a key element of its opulence and wealth. JOY remains a symbol of quality and luxury even in the difficult economic conditions of the contemporary world. Women's lives have changed significantly in the last eighty years, but the desire to own JOY has remained unchanged. This year, a new chapter opens for JOY. The launch of a new perfume created for today's elegant and sophisticated woman. A rich fragrance that contains the best ingredients with the most refined natural bouquets and does not betray the expectations placed in every creation of JEAN PATOU. JOY FOREVER is an extraordinary floral perfume that takes up the fundamental and precious original ingredients of JOY, May rose and jasmine: the secret accord of exclusive raw materials of JEAN PATOU reinterpreted in a modern key. Perfect for both day and night, JOY FOREVER enhances the style of a contemporary woman with a touch of French allure. The Parisian heart of JEAN PATOU still beats thanks to Thomas Fontaine, perfumer of the Maison, who worked passionately to find the best ingredients and faithful to the spirit of JEAN PATOU. "When I created the JOY FOREVER fragrance, I was inspired by the Jean Patou woman... a woman who combines with extreme naturalness a casual style with pure and refined elegance. I started from this dichotomy to create a bouquet in which iris and orange blossom are the vibrant heart of this mythical harmony.” “Her mother wore JOY because it was luxurious, she will choose JOY FOREVER for the intrinsic quality of its perfume. She lives for the present... she seizes the moment!” The base notes are characterized by cedarwood and sandalwood, white musk and amber, modernity is enclosed in the heart notes of jasmine, rose, iris, marigold, orange blossom and peach. The timeless spirit reaches its peak with bergamot, mandarin and galbanum: the past merges with the present to give life to the future. The iconic bottle of JOY was created by Jean Patou's architect and interior designer, Louis Süe, who designed a faceted bottle like a precious stone. JOY FOREVER is also housed in this elegant, timeless bottle, featuring a rose gold cap that reflects the antique shine of the luxurious classic packaging.
